What is a Tooth Extraction?
Tooth extractions are the removal of a tooth from its socket in your jawbone. At Dr. Daniel Mahler Dentistry, we perform dental extractions only when less invasive treatment options would not be effective at addressing your oral health issues or if the tooth compromises your overall oral health if it remains in your mouth.
Some of the most common reasons for pulling a tooth include excessive tooth damage or crowding. Teeth may also sometimes have to be pulled to prepare your mouth for a different dental procedure.
Repairing Excessive Damage
In most instances, your dentist will work to save a damaged, decayed or diseased tooth through whatever means are necessary. However, there are times when an injury, gum disease case, or tooth decay becomes extensive or severe enough that a tooth will require extraction to preserve your oral and overall health.
In most cases, your dentist will work to save a tooth whenever possible. However, there are circumstances, such as injury, gum disease, or excessive decay, which require extraction.
